Ovulation Induction - Optimizing the chances of conception

What is Ovulation Induction?

Ovulation Induction is a fertility treatment designed to stimulate the ovaries to produce one or more mature eggs in women who struggle with regular ovulation. The process involves administering medications such as Clomiphene Citrate or Gonadotropins to encourage egg development and increase the chances of conception, either naturally or in conjunction with assisted reproductive techniques like intrauterine insemination (IUI).

When is Ovulation Induction Recommended?

PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome)

A hormonal imbalance that affects ovulation.

Irregular Menstruation

Inconsistent menstrual cycles that lead to infrequent ovulation.

Non-Ovulation or Irregular Ovulation

Difficulty producing a mature egg during the menstrual cycle.

Unexplained Infertility

When no clear cause for infertility is identified.

Tubal Blockage or Tubal Damage

Blocked or damaged fallopian tubes can impact natural conception.

Severe Endometriosis

A condition where tissue similar to the uterus lining grows outside the uterus, affecting fertility.

Advanced Maternal Age

When age-related factors impact ovulation.

Male Infertility Problems

Ovulation Induction may be combined with treatments addressing male infertility to improve the chances of conception.

Your ovulation induction treatment journey

Stimulation
The treatment starts at the beginning of your menstrual cycle. First, the fertility specialist prescribes ovulation medicines to encourage follicular growth containing eggs.
Monitor & Control of egg release
The follicular development of eggs needs time, which is closely monitored through scheduled ultrasound and blood tests. In this step, the quality and quantity of eggs production are controlled.
Egg release
A trigger injection called Human Chorionic Gonadotropin HCG is given to mature the eggs and aid its release from the fallopian wall.
Timed Intercourse or IUI
Next, a pelvic ultrasound is performed on ovulation days to calculate the time of egg release and determine appropriate days for sexual intercourse and maximize fertilization chances. Alternatively, the pregnancy can also be attained through IUI (Intra Uterine Insemination) in the same due course. IUI is an external process to inject healthy sperm inside the uterus for fertilization.
Pregnancy test
Your specialist will schedule a pregnancy test usually taken 15 to 16 days after ovulation to confirm results.

How Successful Is Ovulation Induction?

Success rates of Ovulation Induction depend on factors such as the underlying cause of infertility, the woman’s age, and the medication used.

For women with PCOS or irregular ovulation, Ovulation Induction can significantly improve the chances of pregnancy, particularly when combined with timed intercourse or IUI. At Silver Lining, we tailor the treatment to each patient, maximizing the chances of success through expert care and monitoring.
